Research areas

What makes people feel that they belong? How do group identities shape conflict, discrimination, and cooperation? How do people cope with social and health-related challenges? These questions connect our work at SERI Lab — Social Experiences, Resilience, and Identity — directed by Dr. Maor Shani.

Building on earlier research

The lab’s new institutional home brings together research developed through work in Germany, Israel, and international collaborations. The website connects that work across three broad areas: conflict and society; antisemitism, identity, and inclusion; and health and wellbeing. It also makes space for the students whose thesis projects contribute to these questions.

Website resources

Alongside a publication library and a supervision archive, this site includes short research notes and an interactive view of selected published findings. These resources are intended for researchers, students, practitioners, and readers interested in the questions behind the statistics. They distinguish published findings from ongoing work and explain where the evidence has limits.

Contact

Prospective students and collaborators are welcome to contact Maor with a research question and an explanation of how it connects to the lab. Formal opportunities depend on university arrangements and project availability. As the lab develops, this site will provide a home for its work without making promises about positions or study participation that have not been confirmed.
